Become part of the core that keeps Birdcage flowing. You’ll work closely with artists, scout new talent, and manage the pre-production processes that bring our radio moments to life. You’re the bridge between creativity, system, and structure.

content writer
Hear ye, hear ye! Are you someone who’s got an inclination for the written word? Someone who enjoys stitching together stories, writing about experiences and events and has a flair for producing content with value? Well, then this just might be the role for you! The Birdcage Content Team is looking for a content writer to primarily focus on reviving our monthly newsletter.

It’s all about capturing the spirit of what happens here, from radio shows and events to the people who make it all tick. There’s also plenty of space to pitch ideas for the Birdie Blog if you have stories you’d like to tell or contribute in any other written way. You don’t have to be a professional writer, but you should certainly enjoy writing and have a feel for tone and style. An interest in music, community projects, or creative culture definitely helps!


Responsibilities include:
• Producing our monthly newsletter
• Copywriting for the website and occasionally, our socials
• Writing post-event or activity write-ups
• Coming up with new, interesting ideas for the Birdie Blog

events: decoration lead
Join the Birdcage Events Team! In 2026, the birdies are back all across Utrecht. In this role you can bring the vision of your team alive during various types of events. From bar evenings to club nights, together we will make sure the Birdcage events turn into unforgettable experiences! You'll work closely together with the programming and production team and as duo or a force of three, guide the deco volunteers towards a smashing end result!


Specifics:
• Commitment of 4–8 hours per week
• You have affinity with art and DIY deco making
• Create a wonderful experience for event visitors
• Host deco sessions in the studio for the volunteers
• Source and work with second hand material (when possible)
• Bring visions alive and make wild deco dreams come true
• Communicate with team members organisation wide

social media manager
Join the Birdcage Communications Team! Help shape the stories, visuals, and campaigns that represent our creative ecosystem. Work closely with the programming, event, label, school and studio teams, build your own crew, and bring our world to life across Instagram, Twitch, SoundCloud, our website and community channels. Become the voice between Birdcage and the world.


Specifics:
• Commitment of 4–8 hours per week (2 positions available)
• You plan content & shape the storytelling of the station
• You guide videographers, photographers, writers & creators
• You create and run promotional campaigns
• You develop strategies for socials, website & mailings
• You connect programming and communication flows
• You communicate actively in community & social channels

studio volunteer
Join the Birdcage Radio Studio Team! The studio is a fun and creative space to connect with DJs, live artists, and music enthusiasts from all types and backgrounds. Learn how to operate the daily broadcast and help from behind the scenes to keep the music playing! Join a team of loving birds.

Specifics:
• Commitment of at least 4 hours per month
• You have affinity with music and/or art
• You are interested to learn the technical ropes
• Contact with the artists, hospitality for them and guests
• As a team we are caretakers of the studio
• Volunteer gathering takes place once every 4 weeks
• Weekly opportunities to perform during the resident slot
• Requires smiles and high fives!
